Industrial Hoists Cases

Scanclimber by Tractel's industrial hoists are used in many different industrial settings such as mines, storage silos, power plants and shipyards.

The rescue concept for a railway tunnel in Zurich had to be revised on short notice. Three shafts for evacuation and the transportation of materials were driven into the mountain retroactively. A steel staircase and a rescue hoist were installed in each of these shafts. Three SCANCLIMBER PM1500 permanent hoists were built within the shafts.

Each hoist has a device measuring stress and is connected to the railway control net by an emergency switch. The aluminum lined lift cages, with a surface of 2.40 m x 1.40 m, pass through the shafts which are up to 70 meters high, at the speed of 40 m/min.

Scanclimber installed the hoists within two months despite difficult circumstances. Various new developments were taken into account in this pilot project. Among other things, an especially narrow mast was chosen for the toothed rack drive operation to guarantee an optimal lift service in the narrow shaft.
