Scanclimber stands tall over Eastern England

Select Plant, the leading specialist plant hirer in the UK, has supplied Laing O'Rourke with 3 Scanclimber single cage passenger and materials hoists for the Cranfield Mills project at St Peter's Wharf in central Ipswich, East Anglia. One of these 2 tonne capacity machines, with a cage of 3,2 m x 1,5 m, reaches the top of the 71 m high main tower. The machines provided are SC2032F units with additional loading gates in the side of the cage for rapid fork lift usage and additionally, a third door in the ground cage to allow even faster loading and better flexibility in installation orientation. All machines are in Select Plant's trademark white finish.

MPG Mastclimbers Ltd, a major platform rental company in the UK, have additionally provided 3 sets of Scanclimber SC1300 mastclimbers for cladding installation and all have been 'launched' above ground level. One single mast unit stands on a scaffold foundation to permit a concrete pump to be utilised below it, in the early stages of the project. The twin mast unit, which also reaches the top of the main tower is supported on universal beams projecting from the floor slab at the 7th floor. These beams are retained by props and scaffold supports between the floor and ceiling slabs.
