The facades of tallest Dallas residential building, the 30-story Katy Station, finished with the help of heavy-duty mast climbers in Texas, USA.
Katy Station
Katy Station is the largest of four new residential towers going up in Victory Park near downtown Dallas; built by Dallas Genesis Real Estate Group. It was named after a nearby sports trail. Katy Trail is a jogging, walking, inline skating, and cycling path that runs through the Uptown and Oak Lawn area of Dallas. It follows the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad known as MKT or Katy.
In Dallas, abandoned railroads, previously populated by the homeless, drug dealers, and gangs, are being transformed into the unifying Katy Trail, a 12-foot (3.7m) wide and 3.5 mile-long (5.6km) concrete path.
The work site
After completion Katy Station is the tallest apartment tower in Dallas, Texas. It is a 30-storey (300 ft tall) tower construction boasting a 625-car parking garage and 461 luxury apartments ranging from 614 to 3758 square feet. The building was designed by the Houston-based architect company EDI International. The total floor space of the Katy Station building is 454,065 Square Feet.
The main contractor for the Katy Station project is Andres Construction and, at the time of writing, TRINITY DRYWALL & PLASTERING SYSTEMS were responsible for the plastering work at the site. The mast climbers for the worksite are supplied by Sunbelt Rentals. Mast Climbing Platforms manufactured by Scanclimber operated at the site until the façade work was completed by the end of 2017.
Mast Climbers at work
Two Scanclimber Monster SC8000 twin mast climbing work platforms were on the west façade of the building for various types of work. Since the building has an 8ft overhang at roof level, the use of swing stages on this side of the 300ft high building was not possible. Thus two twin SC8000 mast climbers were ordered by the main contractor to enable work on the facades of Katy Station.
Since delivery and erection of the mast climbers, they have given easy access for various types of work at the site. The work performed from the mast climbers has included window installation, window sheet work, stucco work, drywall work and plastering work by Trinity.
The customer has been very happy with the twin mast climbers and the work has advanced without any delays; the project has been ahead of schedule!
commented Sunbelt Rentals construction manager Donald McCann at the site.
