Scanclimber hoist used at an underground tunnel at CERN

At CERN, Switzerland is the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator. It consists of a 27-kilometer ring of superconducting magnets. CERN is currently extending the particle accelerator. This project includes underground excavation works. Point 1, at LHC (Large Hadron Collider), is the underground tunnel access shaft. The access shaft is 71m deep. Scanclimber’s Falcon SC1432F hoist was employed in the access shaft to transport personnel and materials to and from the ground level. After completion of the tunnel, the access shaft shall remain in place. The shaft will be equipped with a staircase and elevator for the particle accelerator’s operating personnel.

Building the HVB-Tower in Munich

The HVB-Tower is one of the most remarkable construction sites in Munich at the moment. What makes it remarkable is not just the height of the administrative building of the Hypo-Vereinsbank, which stands tall at 114 m, but also its architectural design. According to the plans made, the high-rise building should be completed by the end of 2015 and the lower North building by 2018. At the work site of Finland’s tallest Hotel, goods and men travel with help of Scanclimber construction hoists

After a long planning period in Tampere, the Tower Hotel construction work is now underway in the former customs territory of the Tampere railway station. The developer was Mutual Insurance Company Pension – Fennia and the hotel is built by the SRV Corporation. The hotel business, in turn, will be run by SOK Sokotel. Construction work began in November 2012 and was ongoing for 2 years. The inaugural ceremony was held at the end of 2014.

Scanclimber hoists played an important role in building the giant luxury cruiseliner, Mein Schiff 5, at Meyer shipyard in Turku. Meyer Turku is one of the leading shipyards in Europe, and part of German-based Meyer Werft. Meyer Turku specializes in building cruise ships and other passenger vessels. It has a long history in shipbuilding, dating back to 1737, when the yard in Turku started. Mayer Werf has built more than 1300 vessels over the years.
